Context: The disciples thought Jesus is about to set his early kingdom.
“Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” ( Matthew 24:2 NIV )
Jesus prediction of the destruction of the Temple
The temples were truly destroyed by Roman empire and never rebuilt. So if what Jesus said about the near future came true, then the rest of the predictions of the long-term future will also come true.
Application:
- God is in control of history. (History = His story)
- The Bible, God’s word, is completely trustworthy and reliable. So feed yourself God’s word if you want to grow and be righteous.
- Trust in and depend on Jesus. He is the only one to hope in that will never let you down
